Hawaii

Two of the most popular tourist locations in the whole world are right here in the USA, and here’s a hint—they’re about to celebrate 60 years of statehood.  Both places offer exquisite natural landscapes, diverse wildlife, unparalleled beauty, and deep unique cultural experiences. Yep! Hawaii and Alaska became part of the United States in 1959, and what better way to celebrate the big 6-0 than planning an incentive trip to Alaska or Hawaii in 2019?

Here’s why states 49 and 50 need your attention:

  • America the Beautiful: You’re still in the USA!  Whether you’re swimming with sea turtles, walking on glaciers, or kayaking in the great Pacific Ocean, you’re still in the US.  That means American currency, English, no passports needed, and easy flight access. There are direct flights from most major west coast airports, and you never have to worry about customs, immigration, or exchanging money.
  • Culture: Hawaii and Alaska both specialize in showcasing their unique cultures to tourists.  The deep Polynesian roots in Hawaii coupled with early colonialism from many countries including Japan, Spain, France, and other islands mesh seamlessly to create a cultural mecca of food, dancing, family, and aloha.  Alaska is not without its own unique cultural combinations—besides native peoples, Russians and Gold Rush miners have left their mark. Early Alaskan natives have passed on traditions and stories that still define the modern culture there. Totem poles dot the Southeastern Islands telling stories of betrayal, hope, fishing, and seasons.
  • Wildlife: Bald eagles, whales, and salmon.  Alaska has it all! If you’re lucky, you might even find a black bear salmon fishing, or a moose munching in the vast forests that line the Alaskan coasts.  Hawaii is home to some of those same animals which go south to Hawaii in the winter. If you time things right, you just may catch the same humpback whale in its winter home in Hawaii and then in its summer feeding ground in Alaska.
  • Weather: Speaking of summer and winter, these locations offer either an escape from the cold to Hawaii or a break from the heat to Alaska.  So whether you prefer beaches and bikinis or crisp breezes and coats, 49 and 50 have you covered.
  • Geology: The diversity of landscape and landforms in these two states rivals the best in the world.  Majestic mountain peaks and delicate coral reefs are all within your reach. Both places boast lush forests, stunning waterfalls, and beautiful beaches—yours for the adventuring as you kayak, scuba, fish, hike, or swim your way around these magnificent states.

Whether you’re craving warm, sunny beach days or wild glacial exploration in the Last Frontier, look no further than our own U.S. of A!  Both Alaska and Hawaii are as incredible as ever for incentive trips, family travel, or any type of adventure. So let’s celebrate 49 and 50 turning 60!
