Morocco is a land of vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and rich history, making it an exceptional destination for incentive travel. Our recent familiarization trip allowed a group of incentive travel buyers and event professionals to experience firsthand the magic of this incredible country. Over six unforgettable days, we explored Marrakech, dined in exquisite settings, and discovered why Morocco is a prime choice for future President’s Club and incentive travel events.
Day One: Arrival & Rooftop Welcome Dinner
Upon arrival, we checked into our luxurious accommodations at the Four Seasons Marrakech and prepared for an enchanting evening at Bleu d’Orange. Situated in the heart of the resort, this stunning rooftop venue provided the perfect setting for our welcome reception and dinner. Guests dined on exquisite Moroccan cuisine while taking in breathtaking views of lush gardens and the majestic Atlas Mountains—a perfect introduction to Morocco’s warmth and hospitality.
Day Two: Monuments of Marrakech & Souk Scavenger Hunt
Our second day began with a guided tour of Marrakech’s most iconic monuments. We marveled at the grandeur of the Koutoubia Mosque, the city’s most recognizable landmark, dating back to the 12th century. Though non-Muslims aren’t permitted inside, we admired its stunning architecture and historical significance.
Next, we explored the opulent Badii Palace, originally adorned with gold and onyx, followed by the Bahia Palace, known for its beautifully interconnected gardens. A visit to the 17th-century Saadian tombs rounded out the morning, where the intricate arches and masterful craftsmanship left a lasting impression. Following our tour we savored delicious Chicken Bastille and other Moroccan delicacies at the beautiful Le Jardin Restaurant, which also doubles as a fantastic venue for a private group function.
In the afternoon, we split into teams for a thrilling scavenger hunt in the Souks. Armed with a shopping list and a limited budget, participants navigated the labyrinth of market streets, bargaining for goods using newly learned Arabic phrases. This interactive experience provided a fun and engaging way to immerse ourselves in the local culture.
Our day concluded with a rooftop dinner at the stylish Kabana Restaurant, offering an unforgettable dining experience in the heart of Marrakech with an evening view of the iconic mosque.
Day Three: Moroccan Cooking Class & Vintage Sidecar Adventure
The morning was spent uncovering the secrets of Moroccan cuisine at La Maison Arabe. Under the guidance of a dada (a traditional Moroccan cook) and a translator, we learned to prepare an authentic Moroccan dish using fresh, local ingredients. The experience also included a tea ceremony, a flatbread-making demonstration, and a delicious tasting session of the food we were trained to prepare.
After some leisure time at the Four Seasons Marrakech, where guests enjoyed the stunning pools and tranquil spa, we embarked on a vintage motorcycle sidecar tour of the city. From the lively alleyways to ancient fondouks and the palm grove, this excursion offered a unique perspective of Marrakech’s rich heritage and modern charm.
Our evening concluded at the magnificent Oberoi, Marrakech, where we enjoyed a site visit and an exquisite Indian-inspired tasting dinner. Nestled amidst fragrant citrus orchards and ancient olive groves, The Oberoi, Marrakech is a luxurious oasis that captures the essence of Morocco’s rich heritage. Inspired by the grandeur of ancient palaces, its breathtaking architecture and serene water features evoke the beauty of the historic Medersa Ben Youssef. With the panoramic views of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and warm, heartfelt hospitality, The Oberoi, Marrakech offered us an unforgettable retreat just 20 minutes away from the heart of the Ochre City.
Day Four: Atlas Mountains Hike & La Mamounia
An early morning departure took us on a scenic hike through the Atlas Mountains to the charming village of Imlil. We were welcomed by a hospitable Berber family who shared tea and stories of their deep-rooted history in the region. Lunch at Kasbah du Roches Aremd provided a picturesque setting to reflect on the morning’s adventure.
Upon returning, we checked into the legendary La Mamounia Hotel, an iconic luxury property known for its Moorish architecture, lush gardens, and impeccable service. The evening was left open for personal exploration, allowing our guests to indulge in the hotel’s world-class amenities and the vibrant nightlife of Marrakech.
Day Five: Gardens, Museums & Agafay Desert Dinner
The day began with a guided site visit of La Mamounia before heading to the stunning Majorelle Gardens, a botanical masterpiece curated by Yves Saint Laurent. The adjacent museum showcased the designer’s artistic legacy and deep connection to Morocco.
After a leisurely afternoon at La Mamounia, we set out for an unforgettable evening in the Agafay Desert. Under a canopy of stars, we savored Moroccan tea and pastries before gathering around a beautifully adorned long dinner table. Traditional musicians serenaded us as we enjoyed a gourmet meal featuring Mediterranean canapés, Lebanese delicacies, and exquisite seasonal dishes. The mesmerizing music and dance performances by the campfire created a magical atmosphere, and gifting experts Zanna Jewelry set up a pop-up shop that allowed guests to choose a unique and custom gift. It was an unforgettable night!
Day Six: Hot Air Balloon & Farewell Dinner
Our final morning featured a surprise hot air balloon excursion over Marrakech’s North Palmeraie. Floating above the breathtaking Moroccan landscape at sunrise was a surreal experience, enhanced by a delicious breakfast enjoyed mid-flight.
After a leisurely afternoon, our journey culminated in a farewell dinner at Jnane Tamsna. As twilight descended, we were led through candlelit garden pathways by local musicians. The evening unfolded with an exquisite multi-course feast featuring Mediterranean flavors, Lebanese specialties, and decadent desserts, making for a truly opulent culinary finale.
