Embarking on a journey to Croatia, a country blessed with stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture, promises an unforgettable experience. I took my family through this captivating Mediterranean paradise recently, and I am excited to share my remarkable journey with you.  From the picturesque city of Split to the enchanting island of Hvar, each day brought new adventures and left lasting memories.  Our itinerary turned out to be the recipe for any company looking to create a memorable president’s club or incentive travel adventure.

Day 1: Arrival in Split and Exploring Old Town

The journey from the USA to Croatia was a breeze, with a convenient connection in Amsterdam. The clean and easy-to-navigate Split Airport welcomed us to this captivating land.  Our driver-guide greeted us with a smile, setting the tone for the exceptional hospitality awaited us.  Our accommodation, the new Ambasador Hotel in Split, provided a luxurious and comfortable base for our adventures.

After settling in, we indulged in a sumptuous lunch at Bajamonti, savoring local delicacies that tantalized our taste buds.  Eager to explore, we embarked on a guided tour of Old Town Split, where the crown jewel was undoubtedly the Diocletian Cellars. Exploring the ancient underground complex, we were transported back in time, marveling at the grandeur and historical significance of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 2: Krka National Park’s Natural Splendor and Free Time in Split

Our second day was dedicated to immersing ourselves in the natural wonders of Croatia.  We embarked on a scenic boat ride and hiked along the trails of Krka National Park, captivated by the breathtaking waterfalls that adorn the landscape. The sheer beauty and serenity of the park left an indelible impression.

A truly special experience awaited us as we enjoyed a unique lunch at a Konoba, an exclusive restaurant reserved for invited guests. The menu featured mouthwatering lamb cooked over a spit fire and chicken with potatoes prepared in the traditional Ispod peke style. The flavors were divine, representing the rich culinary heritage of the region.

Afterward, we had free time to explore Split’s Old Town, indulging in shopping sprees and treating ourselves to delicious gelato. The vibrant atmosphere and the blend of history and modernity made for a delightful afternoon.

Day 3: Island-Hopping to Hvar and Exploring Historic Old Town

On day three, we embarked on a thrilling speedboat journey to the island of Hvar, passing by the stunning Biševo and its famous Blue Cave, as well as Vis’ green cave, where cliff jumping added an adventurous touch to our experience. A delectable seafood lunch awaited us at Bacchus Palmžana, satisfying our culinary desires in a picturesque island setting.

As the sun began to set, we arrived at Hvar and embarked on a guided tour of the island’s historic Old Town. The winding streets, charming architecture, and intriguing history enchanted us at every turn. It was a perfect introduction to Hvar’s cultural heritage.  We found the Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort a sweet spot for our family’s stay. 

Day 4: Unimog Adventure, Wine Tasting, and a Blues Concert in Hvar

Day four offered a unique perspective on Hvar as we embarked on an unforgettable Unimog adventure. Traversing the island’s rugged terrain, we explored Napoleon’s fort and reached the highest peak, immersing ourselves in awe-inspiring panoramic views.

To satisfy our palate, we visited the Lacman Family Winery, for a delicious lunch while being serenaded by a personal blues concert performed by the owner, Ante Lacman. The combination of exquisite flavors and soulful melodies created a truly magical afternoon. 

Day 5: Private Boat Journey to Dubrovnik via Korcula

Leaving Hvar behind, we embarked on a private boat journey to Dubrovnik, stopping at the enchanting island of Korcula. A beautiful lunch amidst stunning surroundings was followed by a guided tour of Korcula’s Old Town, which revealed the island’s rich history and architectural marvels.

En route to Dubrovnik, we made stops at secluded coves with crystal-clear waters, allowing us to swim and soak up the tranquil beauty of the Adriatic Sea. Our accommodation in Dubrovnik was the elegant Hotel Excelsior, where we embraced luxury and comfort. The day ended with award-winning burgers at Guloso, a fitting blend of international flavors.

Day 6: Exploring Lokrum Island and Dubrovnik’s Mountains

Our sixth day commenced with a leisurely morning walk in Dubrovnik’s mesmerizing Old Town, relishing its historic charm. We then took a short ferry ride to Lokrum Island, where we delved into the world of Game of Thrones at the museum, savored a refreshing swim in the Mrtvo More (Dead Sea), and embraced our adventurous spirit by jumping off the rocks at Lokrum Beach.

Following a quick change at the hotel, we set off to explore the mountains above Dubrovnik by ATV, winding through olive groves and wildflower fields to reach the peak of Mt Srd. The breathtaking views of the Old City below left us in awe, encapsulating the essence of Croatia’s natural beauty.

Day 7: City Walls, Shopping, and a Farewell to Croatia

Our final day offered ample free time to explore the magnificence of Dubrovnik’s city walls. Walking along these ancient fortifications, we marveled at the city’s architectural splendor and breathtaking views. We seized the opportunity to shop for souvenirs, cherishing the memories of this remarkable journey.

To bid farewell to Croatia in style, we made our way back to Lokrum Island for one last exhilarating jump off the rocks, a perfect way to embrace the spirit of adventure that defined our trip.
